California Dreaming About The End Of Spam

A few reports say potential new California legislation would enable private citizens to sue email marketers for up to $1 million for using false or deceptive subject lines or misleading ad copy in the body of email messages. Current California laws allow consumers to sue spammers, but only for deception in the headers and not the body or subject lines.

Stay tuned on how this moves forward and impacts the broader email community. This is not the first time a state has tried to establish agressive spam state laws.

Of course, keep your head down, focus on the details, comply with best practices and CAN-SPAM, and most permission based email marketers should stay in the clear.

A Mainstream Article on Email Marketing without a Mention of Spam?

say it ain't so....The Atlanta Journal-Constitution recently did a feature on me that ran prominently in the Sunday Business Section. While it is always nice to get that kind of press for our company, I was very pleased that there was not a single mention of spam when describing the email marketing industry and during the course of our interview.

Overall, I thought it was a good piece and we have received quite a bit of interest related to it. Check it out.
